Jackie Speier's office called Mercy on Wednesday and said that they wanted student volunteers to go to the Rosie the Riveter Museum in Richmond with the Congresswomen for Women's Equality Day. When Rep. Speier's office calls we listen!

The museum has 30 Rosie docents who are aged 95-103. While we looked at the exhibits they talk about their experiences working in the Richmond shipyards as welders. They are proud to have helped our country and it was really cool to see our students asking questions and interested in US history.

The trip today made me think about how during WWII the US was really united and proud to be fighting for a cause all together, and now our country is more divided than ever and full of hate. How do we get back to a hopeful time without going to war? It is scary to think about, but I think it starts with positive leadership.
I looked for you on TV ~ so glad you could do this!
