Tafoni Sandstone

Lindsay and I looked for the sun today on Skyline Blvd and we went for a walk to find the Tafoni Sandstone. It is a rock formation pushed to the surface by the San AndrĂ©s fault, and then weathered by years of water and wind. It’s pretty cool to see their geology less than 30 min from my house!

The sandstone.

They call this lattice.

The round, darker, balls of sandstone are called cannon balls.

Cool cave!

The site felt really ancient and like there is a lot of history here. I liked how this tree had a relationship with the rock.

Fun to find new places to explore!
