The other day we counted 5 baby seals, and today we noticed a big seal far away from the pod on the beach. She rolled over and I saw her stomach move and we quickly realized she was in labor! I took a video of the entire birth, the sea gulls waited to eat the placenta. The baby was so small and the mom and baby immediately touched noses as soon as it was born. I am so grateful to have witnessed this magic in Moss Beach!!!

Mom away from the group. You can see her belly.

Contactions. You can kind of see the head poking out towards the water.

Baby seal is born!!! It looks like a little naked mole rat. But so amazing to see it moving and take its first breath.
