Syd and I went to the LA County Registrar's office today to get a marriage certificate. Depending on how long the line took, we were thinking about having a civil ceremony too, but we decided not to. It just didn't feel right.
The office is a total bureaucracy experience. A long line, people confused, not enough open windows, and screaming babies. This was the only sign telling people where to go, and it was hidden until you actually made it inside the door.
I signed up online, but it is crazy to me that they can't just mail you the certificate and you actually have to show up in person. About two and a half hours later, we finally had the papers in our hands. Now all we have to do is sign them.
