Day Trip

We took a trip up Hightway One North, after the Golden Gate Bridge. It is a windy road through the hills and along the coast, and it was a beautiful day!
First stop was Muir Beach.

We saw a deer on the walk out to the beach. First of many deer sightings today!
Highway One goes along Tomales Bay, where they farm oysters. Syd has always wanted to go to one of the oyster stands. So we pulled over on the side of the road.

We knew we were in the right place when the parking lot is all oyster shells.

Artichoke plants and Tomales Bay in the background. View from the parking lot of Hog Island.

They sell fresh oysters by the dozen and usually they have picnic tables set up and a ton of tourists. Right now, it is take out only. Syd ate 10 oysters in the back of the Jeep!

Next stop was Dillion’s beach, right at the end of Tomales Bay and before Bodega Bay. It is a surf break so Syd got to surf.

I sat and read in the sand dunes and enjoyed the sun.

On our way home we went through the hills of dairy country. We caught the freeway in Petaluma and then headed home. It was a fun day trip exploring places we had never been in Northern California.
