Graduation Reimagined

Today CLA hosted our first graduation ceremony. We held it in the forest in the marine reserve. We created new traditions based on old ones and gave them a CLA spin. It was so fun!

Our graduate is the leader of the barefoot crew so in honor of them, I didn’t wear shoes. 

Instead of a graduation cap, our graduate wore a flower crown. 

We had a photo shoot in our favorite nature spots. 

We love our chestnut tree. 

They received their diploma and then they got to jump the log, symbolizing leave the past behind and springing into the good times ahead. 

After jumping the log we processed to the beach for a dip in the ocean. 

We celebrated with a beautiful cake baked by our students. 

I haven’t fully processed the day yet, but proud is the word I can think of right now. We set out to start a school two years ago and here we are with a graduate. Amazing!
