A year ago we started taking about how students needed a platform at school to share their cultures with the community. Our SBO Vice President took the lead this year to make our first, hopefully annual, multicultural day possible. Every day this week we had a few different cultures featured at lunch time with food, music, clothing, or games. For the culmination today my student organized a Women of Color speaker panel of alums to share their experiences with our current students. It was a magical conversation and the audiences were captivated with the alums inspirational words. After the panels we had a Multicultural rally with dancing, music, and games representing students and their heritages. It was beautiful and a joyful celebration!
I am so proud of these two students. Our SBO President and VP, our VP especially, put her heart and soul into this week. When the rally was over she was crying tears of joy because it was a job well done and she knew it! Love watching my leaders rise.
