Makauwahi Cave

This morning’s view.
After surfing and breakfast we hiked the Makauwahi CaveTrail. This is the trail head after driving down a very rocky road
Red dirt, sand, and sea.

The cave is cool because it was formed from a lava flow thousands of years ago. At one point it was filled with water, but now you can look down and see the vegetation. They have done a lot of archeological work around the cave finding fossils and remnants of the ancient Hawaiians who lived here.
