UCLA Senior Day

Coach Close, Rebekah, and Family
Oh man, I love Senior Day at any sports event. The UCLA team only had one senior this season and Rebekah Gardner was outstanding. The team battled many injuries and she was a great leader and always sparked the offense. During the pregame ceremony they played a video with highlights from her career and interviews from her teammates and coaches about how much they will miss her. Aww, I almost teared up! We talked to her parents after the game (they were sitting right behind us) and she is thinking about going pro next year. It must be cool to play a women's sport that has the opportunity to go pro after college. Softball players don't know anything about that.

Bubble Gum Shoes
In addition to Senior Day it was also the UCLA Breast Cancer Awareness game. I am kind of over wearing pink to sporting events because we did that last week at USC, but I tired to be a good sport about it. Check out the UCLA shoes. Since we were in the 2nd row I was able to get a god shot of them.
Yay Elaine!

During half time, another exciting and expected thing happened. My friend's mom who gave me the season tickets this year was given an honorary membership to the UCLA band!!! She loves the band and it is one of her favorite parts of the game. The band surprised her with her own UCLA hawaiian shirt and a triangle to join the band with. So cool! She was on the big screen and everything.

UCLA won by 20 points. It was an exciting game. The team finished 5th in the Pac-12 so they aren't going on to the playoffs and their season is over. I bet the team is partying tonight! That's how college athletes roll...

Sabrina, Erin, and I reserved our season tickets for next year at the game today. Who knew I would get so excited about basketball?! It is fun to have a team and get to know the players. We even are starting to know the other season ticket holders and the people who work at the gym. Nice community feel to women's basketball.
