In our last game of the season we honored our four seniors on Senior Day. It was a rainy day, and all of us were nervous we wouldn't be able to play. Knowing how important it was to these girls to have their moment in the "sun" as seniors, I told our team and the other team that we were going to play rain or shine.
We had a pregame ceremony and gave the seniors flowers. The parent who was in charge of the bouquets, went above and beyond because they were beautiful. The girls were all smiles and each senior contributed with either a hit, a diving catch, or a clutch play in the game. This senior class is impressive, two are going to Claremont Makenna to play (softball and basketball) and the others are going to the University of Richmond and the University of Chicago. The coaches and I are really proud of them!
Senior Day was a perfect end to our season. The team decorated the field with a giant sign and we saran wrapped it so the paint wouldn't melt during the game. It worked out great and lasted long enough for the photo. Another year in the bag and we will miss our seniors. Bring on the summer.
