Cascais

After two weeks it feels like we have left no stone unturned in Portugal. There are only two places that are still on our list for another trip, Porto in the north (too cold this time of year) and the Azore islands. Today we completed our Portuguese tour in Cascais.
Cascais is right on the water and west of Lisbon. We walked around the marina, old town, and the citadel.

I really liked this maritime statue in the marina. The women is looking out into the horizon watching for incoming ships and it feels whimsical.

This is a paring of old and new. In Cascais they built art studios and a museum right into the old fort called the citadel. Basically every city we had been to had some kind of military or maritime historical monument. Makes you think that Portugal is coveted land and they were trying to protect themselves a lot throughout history.

Here is the lighthouse out on the point. You can see the big ships coming into the port.

We had a great trip! It was fun to go back to Europe again after about four years and also get to see Vanessa. We fly home in the morning. Can’t wait to see Arthur!
