Sun and Our Favorite Foods

It felt summery in Ericeira. Warm weather and the beaches were full. Syd got to surf twice today the waves were so good and we ate at our two favorite restaurants.

We walked along the beach and there were big patches of sea foam. Some people were pretending they were snow, but I tried to take artsy photos of them.

Along the rocks were this reddish brown chestnut looking things. Turns out their are sea anemones! They squires water when I poked one.

For lunch we ate piri piri chicken. We were introduced to piri piri chicken while in Australia and didn’t realize it was a Portuguese dish until we came home and looked up how to make it. It has chili sauce that is zesty and really good!

However this trip, we learned that piri piri chicken is actually chicken that is butterflied and grilled over charcoal. It has chili on it and can be spicey, but it’s more about how it’s cooked than the spice blend. Every town has their own chicken grill shop and it’s super cheap! We got a full chicken, a huge thing of rice, and fries for 14€.

Another beautiful sunset in Ericeira.

For dinner we went to our favorite fish restaurant. They grill the whole fish over a charcoal grill (almost all restaurants have them) with salt and olive oil. It forms a crust on the fresh fish and it’s so simple it’s delicious. The fish comes with vegetables and potatoes. Sea bass is the way to go!!

Tomorrow is our last day here. A little bit more sight seeing and then it will be time to pack up and get ready for our flight on Thursday.
