Safety Base

In softball we use a double base at first base for safety. The firstbasemen gets the white base to put her foot on and the runner gets the orange base to run through. We use this base by rule to avoid collisions and I think it is especially important in high school when players are still learning. Today when we got to the field the base was flipped around! The orange side was in fair territory and the white was in foul. Oops! It looked pretty ridiculous and we all got a good laugh out of it. We decided to spare the other team the embarrassment and changed it ourselves.
