Today was alllll about eating Bavarian food. Our goal was to go to the alternative Christmas market in Munich, but when we got off the metro we stumbled upon a Paulaner Brauhaus.
Syd was immediately in heaven and we ordered a beer, an apfelschorle (sparkling apple juice), and a ratler (half beer, half Sprite) for the three of us. Guess who's drink order was who's?! We had a huge lunch, spread out on our table. I think the waitress was surprised by our order.
After stuffing ourselves with sausage, schnitzel, pretzels, and a ham hock, we rolled down the street to the market. It had an indie feeling, with graffiti on the walls surrounding the market. The market had the traditional foods, but had an interesting decor. There were two tents with lots of different artists set up selling different crafts inside.
This silver skeleton and cross was probably the most bizarre. The tents were pumped with hot air so we enjoyed sitting inside warming up for a little.
A bit on a whim, we ice skated at an outdoor pool in the city. I think they planned on the weather being colder than it was today because the rink was watery and extra slick. My our goal the entire time was to not get hurt.
I really enjoyed walking around Munich at night tonight. Many buildings were lit up and it is cool to see things differently in the winter. It gets dark at 4:30 here! Looking forward to our last full day in Munich tomorrow.
