Hello from Barcelona! We made our connection in Dusseldorf (even though it was slim), and even had time for a beer and pretzel. Syd was in heaven. Our stay was brief, but don't worry we will be back there next weekend to see Vanessa and her crew.
We arrived at the airport in Barcelona and getting off the plane, finding both our bags, using an ATM, and hailing a taxi was wayyyy smoother than I anticipated. Southern countries tend to move at their own leisurely pace, but we got in and out of the airport in 25 minutes! LAX needs a lesson from the Spaniards...

We are staying in the Gothic Quarter at Hotel Colon. The website said it was close to the cathedral, but turns out it shares a courtyard! How cool is that for a first sight at our doorstep? Our room is a bit small, but has an awesome balcony and air conditioning.

We wanted to walk around a little because it was too early to go to bed to beat jet lag. Right when we thought life can't get any better we stumbled upon the oldest restaurant in Barcelona called Can Culleretes. The tomato bread and thinly sliced Jamone was excellent. I don't even like ham!
The evening is warm and perfect for shorts and a tshirt. Even though it is midnight here, we are the first ones in bed and walked back to our hotel under the full moon. My goal is to sleep through the night and I can't wait to explore the city more tomorrow. Syd and I both love it here so far.
