We took a cab up the hill to Güeli Park, and Dad told his first joke in Spanish. He told our cab driver that he should drive really fast and Dad would yell at the pedestrians out the window. Dad was proud!
We toured the park, and I fulfilled my vision of getting a family photo next to the gecko, which I like to call him, but he is actually a salamander. One of the clerks in a gift shop told us that the symbolism behind the salamander is “too complicated to understand.” Ha
This afternoon we walked over to the Casa Batla, another Gaudi. K and V both took the tour, and I haven’t had the chance to ask them many details yet about the building, but the roof seems like it is the coolest part. It is bright blue and kind of dragon-like, even though the lighting doesn’t show it.
While Spain was playing in the World Cup, we got some food and walked down to the water. The Spanish loss was disappointing and surprising! A bunch of people were gathered at the beach bar to watch the kick off.
Headed to Valencia tomorrow on the train!
