We had some light rain over night, but this morning was a beautiful day for softball. Today was our last game in the Spring Fling friendly and we had a home game. The grounds crew took care of the field for me and it was perfect for playing.
The girls played really well today all the way until the last minute. Our game against Lincoln was tournament style with an hour and thirty minutes, drop dead time limit. We tied up the score 2-2 with two clutch hits and when the last inning started (we were the home team), there was only 10 minutes to play. We got two quick outs, but then the other coach started stalling. After the final strike out, my players were running to get in the batter's box but the umpire called the game. We didn't even get our last ups.
Such a bummer!! Ending in a tie doesn't feel satisfying, but at least we put up a good fight and the other team didn't win. The lesson from this is we need to treat every at bat like our last at bat of the day. Sense of urgency!
On to our next game on Tuesday. It is a big league game against Alemany. Go HWSB!
