The theme of the conference this week was Stronger Together and one of my favorite presentations today was about the Missouri State softball program. The team is lead by legendary coach Holly Hesse and she exudes confidence and experience when she speaks.
Today she didn't speak about X's and O's, but about how her team's culture is so close knit that when one of her players was diagnosed with cancer last year, everyone came together to do what they could to fight. Allie was also interviewed today during the panel discussion and she talked about how the support of her coaches and teammates really made a difference for her. She is now in remission and her goal is to pass the team's fitness test in the fall.
Coach Hesse is a VERY successful coach, but seeing her genuine love for her players was refreshing. She puts relationships first and because of that, her team can compete at the highest level. They are stronger together.
So many ideas and things to think about for my team. I can't say enough how proud I am to be a member of the Alliance. Changing lives (even mine!) one day at a time.
