What a day! We had a lot of fun at the softball field today, starting with team lunch and some team bonding.
For an exercise, I put paper on each player and coaches back and gave everyone a pen. For the next 30 minutes, everyone walked around and wrote something that they admired about their teammate, or something they have noticed they have been working really hard at. It was an exercise in showing your teammate how you have their "back" when playing together.
The girls were really happy to have affirmations written on paper of their hard work. Now they can carry the paper with them in their bag and if they are having a tough day they can read the words of encouragement knowing there are 12 people who care for them.
Team bonding was fun, but the game was the ultimate highlight of the day! We lost to Hillsdale in the tournament last week and the girls were fired up to beat them in league when it counted. The team took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning, but then exploded for 5 runs in the 6th inning. They wanted to prove to our league that we are the team to beat.
It was a great team effort! Our defense was clean and everyone worked together. They really do have each other's back! I am so proud of the girls. We are now 5-0 in league and the only team without a loss.
Another game tomorrow! My job is to keep the girls focused on their goal.

Hoooooray - I so enjoy your blog!
