Olympic Softball

Softball is back in the Olympics! I watched the historic first game since 2008 this evening, Australia vs. Japan. Japan run ruled and is going to be the most competition for team USA. (Canada will also be very competitive.)

Team USA played the second game of the day against Italy. The game is still in progress as I type this, but it felt fitting for Cat Osterman to pitch the first game. She came out of retirement to make this Olympic team because she, and the entire softball fan base in the US, is bitter about the silver metal in 2008. I’m rooting hard for Cat and Monica Abbott to finally bring home the gold this year!
