It is no secret that I really like dancing movies and last week I added the foreign film Mao's Last Dancer to my list of favorites. It is about a Chinese boy who was chosen by the government to become a ballet dancer in the 1970's. After being taken away from his family and going through an intense training process in Communist China, Li was given the opportunity to dance with a ballet company in the US and became a huge star. I wont give away all the details, because I highly recommend the movie.
I liked the movie so much that I ordered Li Cunxin's biography on Amazon and the book is proving to be even better than the movie. I haven't been able to put the book down all day.
