Sabrina and I had a smooth trip to Florida last night. Taking the redeye is efficient, but man, when we got to our destination, we were tired! We landed at 5am, got a rental car (a sweet mini van), drove about 40 minutes in "traffic" (noting compared to LA, it made us laugh) and checked into our hotel at 7am. First order of business was a nap.

When we were finally rested we went over to Southeastern University in Lakeland to see Jackie, our former player. She is now playing basketball at SEU and is really enjoying being a student athlete. The school is incredibly small, so small that when we were walking around people were saying hi and introducing themselves to Sabrina and I because they had never seen us before.

Jackie's team played tonight and it was a nail biter of a game. With 26 seconds left, the team was tied 53-53. SEU had the ball and they managed to shoot a 3 point shot to win the game. The crowd went crazy and the cheerleaders stormed the court. Fun game to watch.

After the game, Jackie's coach invited us to join the team for dinner. He was impressed that we had come all the way from CA to see her. A couple other parents came too and it was nice to meet Jackie's new friends.
It is so reassuring to see that Jackie is doing well and really happy in college. She loves her school and feels comfortable away from home. She is the first player of mine and Sabrina's to play a sport in college. We are both hoping she is the first of many success stories.
Bed for me now. My body clock is a mess. Disney World in the AM.
