Home!

Syd and I flew to the Bay Area this evening and the plan was to meet my dad at baggage claim. He is always there on time waiting with hugs but today I didn't see him when we walked out of security. I thought it was kinda weird so I called Kristin because my dad's phone was off. She said his phone was broken and to use the courtesy phone to page him over the intercom. I only wanted to do that if really necessary but after 20 minutes of waiting with our bags, we decided to call.

I talked to the nice operator on the phone and he said he would page my dad to the baggage claim where we were standing. A couple minutes later we heard the announcement for Bill Grout and they even posted it visually too.

Dad showed up shortly after and it turns out he was waiting for us in a different terminal. Our flight was "Alaska" powered by American and that caused a lot of confusion. Good news is we found each other with the help of the nice airport paging system and we are happy to be safely in HMB.

Lesson: bring a cell phone to the airport and always respond to the airport paging system by paging back the person back.
