Last Stop, Nice!

Our trip is starting to wind down and our final stop before flying out of Paris next Friday is Nice. The trains out of Italy were kind of a mess this morning because we had to wait over two hours at the border to take the next train up the Cote d'Azur. When we crossed the border into France, you could immediately tell the difference. Things were cleaner and looked well kept.

When we finally found our hotel, we threw our bags down and headed straight for the water. The rumor was that Nice didn't have sand, and that rumor is true. First thing we did was buy some sweet 90's water shoes. We tried them out on the beach and they are excellent. We also got some goggles and snorkels that will be fun to play with tomorrow.

While we were sitting at dinner with a view of the main street along the waterfront, we started hearing loud music and then a big pink bus rounded the corner. It seemed kind of bizarre but then I noticed all the rainbow flags. Tonight was Nice's Pride parade. It isn't as large of scale as in SF, but there were floats and plenty of interesting people to watch in the street. We couldn't have picked better seats even if we tried. We started cheering in support and one nice woman walked over to us and gave us free gay pride gifts. WIN.

Nice is beautiful. I am looking forward to exploring the area. I think it is going to be a perfect end to our trip with a little relaxation before we go back home.
